Adler was asked to write a short work based upon one of ten sketches that Bach had prepared, but never used, for the Goldberg Variations. The resulting In the Spirit of Bach features "a relentless drive with sixteenths dominating the entire Allegro" and is playable by better school orchestras. For intermediate to advanced.
