Based on an American folk tune from the southern folk tradition of the early 1900s, this selection is an upbeat showpiece that incorporates a banjo player, a bit of non-improvised scat singing, a fun text, and the option of clog or tap dancers to create both rhythmic and visual excitement. It was commissioned for and first sung by a treble honor choir.
