New York City based writer Jim Cifelli has crafted another tasty swing chart in this jazz waltz entitled Blues for McCoy. The tunes main melody is presented first as a small ensemble comprised of saxes, a trumpet and a trombone, and is later joined by the rest of the ensemble to create an intricate and exciting sonority. Following a piano solo, the open solo section allows players in any section of your ensemble stretch out and explore the tunes chord progression. Suggested piano voicings are included to give the less experienced pianist a hint on how to capture this tunes cool sound. This is a chart that you will want to keep in the books to perform year after year!
