"A terrific short overture written during the nation's bicentennial and dedicated to Smith's wife Maureen. ""Declaration Overture"" has a five-note motive in an opening slow section, followed by a driving Allegro where the original five-note motive is put through a series of variations. A composition where each musician will be challenged, easily rehearsed, and provide a satisfying musical experience. ""Declaration Overture"" is also available for full orchestra."
