Close harmonies, lilting quarter-note triplets, and consistent legato help to suspend time in a mystical and extraordinary manner. The artistry of the poem and significant meaning of the text is well matched by the beauty of the music. While the lyrics allude to the story of the three wise men, this could easily be sung in secular settings at any time of the year. Voicing: SATB div. Accompaniment: Unaccompanied
