This three-movement cycle is far more than simply an arrangement of folktunes, but rather a freely-composed work using traditional Hungarian co urt dances as the thematic material. Breathing new life into these 18th-century melodies, the composer uses colorful and varied instrumentation, along with contemporary musical language, in creating this engaging wor k which is sure to be enjoyable for performers and listeners alike.
