Advanced Scale Studies is intended to provide players – students, teachers and young professionals – with an organized method of practicing a scale system that includes a complete set of scales, arpeggios, double-stops and chromatic scales in three and four octaves. With included practice recommendations and instructions, Advanced Scale Studies takes the scale routine to a higher level of successful preparation for advanced repertoire and virtuosic playing, which requires free movement on the entire fingerboard and abilities to perform different patterns in a fast tempo. Providing a secure hand position, developing finger patterns that can be applied to advanced repertoire, and bringing developed muscle memory to the correct practice of scales, arpeggios and double-stops, this exercises in this book offer the necessary foundation for technical freedom.
