The "Jazz Studies" should be practiced like classic studies. The exercises with harmony symbols are typical chord sequences, as they often occur in standards, for example. Here you learn to navigate difficult harmonious cliffs skillfully.
The pieces are deliberately designed so that deep breathing is trained for long musical phrases. In order to promote harmonic understanding, many "Studies" were recorded with a piano accompaniment on the enclosed CD.
