The J. Francis Solid Top & Back Double Bass is a well-appointed student instrument designed to give developing players a substantial step up in sound, construction and feel.

Featuring a solid spruce top and solid spruce back, the J. Francis offers the tonal character and projection associated with solid-wood construction, while the ply sides provide a practical and durable foundation for regular student use. The traditional German pattern is complemented by a solid maple neck, ebony fingerboard, ebony tailpiece and ebony endpin.

The bass is finished in a warm, traditional brown sprayed nitro finish, with the natural character of the wood visible through the finish. Gold-finished 2-per-plate tuning machines provide smooth, reliable tuning, while the maple bridge completes the instrument.

The J. Francis is supplied as a complete outfit, including a 20mm heavy-duty padded bass bag and an FPS Brazilwood bow with ebony frog and horsehair.
