Aribert Reimann who will celebrate his 70th birthday in 2006 became famous with his opera "Lear" based on Shakespeare's play. His new Lorca opera "Bernada Albas Haus" is both a psychological case study and a dramaturgic compositional study: there are only female voices in different tessituras instrumentally contrasted with soloistic wind instruments twelve cellos within the string section and - instead of percussion - four grand pianos partly prepared.
