Darkness has covered our land, black night surrounds us all. But still there's one hope...God, please send your Messiah. An air of melancholy clothes this bittersweet anthem. Yet there is great hope in the chorus as the tonality shifts to major, and the text becomes an impassionedprayer for a Redeemer. The flowing, expressive style of Send Your Messi ah lends itself to a mood of both quiet desperation and shining hope. Interesting harmonies add color to the accessible SATB vocal lines, and a delicate piano part provides a gentle backdrop of support for this moving Advent anthem.
