Just as a lively gospel song inspires spirit through upbeat tempos, rousing “shout” choruses and high-lying vocal tessituras, Shiru (Hebrew for “sing”) accomplishes much of this same musical enthusiasm. Shiru is filled with natural syncopations, flowing harmonic lines and even the aforementioned shout chorus, all of which clearly illustrate the poetry's enthusiasm for “all the earth tosing a new song!”
