A showpiece for trombone quartet, these three short movements display the musical capabilities of the trombone ina variety of ways. “Intrada” contrasts the aggressive capab ilities of the instrument as well as a piquant mood. The “Chorale” is broad and harmonically rich while the last movement, “Scherzo,” uses a combination of open and muted sounds in a technicaltour de force.
