This serenely surreal composition employs an open form and fragments of The Water is Wide to paint a musical soundscape unlike any other. After a series of intriguing episodes, including a violin duet, the melody finally emerges in a sublime cello moment near the end of the work. Substantial and heartfelt, it will enhance the musicality of any orchestra program.
